DJ and Jessica had a perfect vision for their deck. It had to be built right on the edge of Christopher Creek. It would be a special place where their family could escape from the city and embrace nature’s beauty. HBC Decks helped design and executed the construction of a huge 2,500 square foot deck that fits into the tall pines with elegance.

The Challenge
Building right along Christopher Creek presented many challenges. The property’s steep elevation changes required a specific engineered design. A retaining wall needed to be built to protect the integrity of the creek and preserve nature. The deck also needed to fit into the woods seamlessly to preserve the forests flawless charm.

Toasted Sand, a durable Trex composite decking, was chosen to withstand the mountain climate but still maintaining a warm inviting feeling and View Rail’s cable railing matched with the deck perfectly allowing a touch of modernization.

The construction process began with very precise excavation of trees and boulders. HBC tried to keep the property in its original condition as much as possible. The team accurately and safely accomplished every step of the city’s approved plans and process. The retaining walls and footers had specific requirements to ensure this deck would be safe for their family and last for decades to come.
