Every project comes with its unique challenges, and at HBC Decks, we take pride in delivering tailored solutions that bring our clients' visions to life. The Challenge
For Jacqui and Sean’s mountain cabin, there were two main challenges, one of the biggest priorities was making sure their deck was safe. The previous deck did not have the proper beams and joists needed for a safe substructure. A lot of the substructure did not meet building code requirements. Also, we needed to protect the rustic architecture of the covered porch and the railing needed to flow nicely between each timber post without losing the warm, inviting character.

HBC Decks constructed the substructure in a way that met all building requirements. They carefully customized each section of railing to fit perfectly between the timber posts. Trex Enhanced decking, Cinnamon Cove paired well with the natural tones of the log cabin and surrounding forest.

Once HBC decks had the final design, the team started to carefully remove the existing decking while preserving the original timber posts. The deck frame was installed and new Cinnamon Cove decking fastened neatly on top. The new staircase was built according to code, and a new concrete slab was poured to meet the landing requirements.
